This year's Med-City Marathon will go through Kutzky Park, and volunteers are needed to help out. Here's what Wally Arnold, this year's race director has to say:
The section of route going through your neighborhood is about mile 11.2 - 12.2. The runners will enter Kutzky Park on the bike path near Perkins on 16th St. They will run on the trail til just past 11th Ave. and cross over the footbridge to 9th Ave, then turn east on 2nd ST NW down to 3rd Ave before heading downtown. We would be looking for a group of between 10-15 people (including kids) to do the 12 mile waterstop and/or person at each intersection controlling traffic (6-7 locations). The date is May 27th the time would be approx 7:45 am - 10 am.To volunteer for the
water stop click on Contact Us, or for further information call Dave Edmondson at 507-529-6501.
To volunteer for
traffic control at intersections, call Wally Arnold at 507-254-2703.

The February meeting of the Kutzky Park Neighborhood Association will be Tuesday evening, February 13, 7 p.m. at Lourdes High School, 621 West Center Street. We have a couple of special items on the agenda and want to encourage all who can make it to attend.
Wally Arnold, race director for this year's Med-City Marathon, will be coming to talk to us and look for volunteers. Miles 11-12 of this year's route will go through our neighborhood, and Kutzky Park residents will have a great opportunity to help with such things as a waterstop and intersection control. Come, hear and volunteer!
We will also be having a panel presentation and conversation on
Offenders in the Neighborhoods. Marcia Marcoux has lined up 3 knowledgeable and experienced speakers in the field and will moderate. (See the Agenda for more info.) This will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about the laws in effect that govern release, supervision, and placement of offenders, and to ask your questions about this difficult issue. Note: This item is NOT on the agenda because of any placements expected in Kutzky Park at this time, but because it is an important issue that we all need to inform ourselves about.
All are welcome--we hope to see many of you there!
