The City Council will meet Wednesday evening, July 5, at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in City Hall. (Date change due to the July 4 holiday.) The proposed return to 2-way traffic on Center Street, 1st Street NW and 2nd Street NW is on their consent agenda (to be acted on with little or no discussion), having been discussed and approved at a Committee of the Whole on Monday June 26 (the meeting covered in the paper and on TV). Items on the consent agenda can be moved to the discussion agenda by any member of the council. There is the possibility that there will be a request to do this in order to hold a public hearing and re-open this issue.
Attached is an open letter to the neighborhood from Dave Edmonson, KPNA President, as well as contact information for City Council members.
The KPNA and Imagine Kutzky Citizens' Council have worked long and hard on the traffic calming issue, seeking input from the neighborhood and working closely with the city traffic engineer and others to come up with this proposal. All citizens of Kutzky Park are now asked to support this community-approved return to two-way traffic by contacting the members of the City Council and/or attending the council meeting next Wednesday night. We hope to see many of you there!
